Helsinki is a lively city with many possibilities to explore and enjoy. There are lot of outdoor activities to choose from, ranging from biking and hiking to tree-top adventures. We picked five, choose one or more!

Paddle on the Baltic Sea

Enjoy the beauty of the archipelago of Helsinki by a kayak. During the 3-hour guided paddling trip you’ll experience the city and the surrounding nature from a different angle. See the stunning rocky islands and charming sandy beaches. Natura Viva’s Helsinki by Kayak trip takes place every Saturday and Sunday in May. Transportation from the city centre to the Paddling Center is included in the price, as well as all the equipment you’ll need. And remember: No previous paddling experience required!

Cruise to Söderskär Lighthouse

Experience breathtakingly beautiful environment with fascinating history. Söderskär lighthouse is situated in a nature reserve in the outer Porvoo archipelago. During the 1,5 hours boat ride you’ll enjoy the amazing atmosphere of the Baltic sea and barren islets. The lighthouse was built in 1862 and at the exhibition in the lighthouse you’ll learn the stories of the lighthouse keepers and pilots.

Bike around Helsinki

Hop on a bike and see the highlights of the city! The guided 3-4 hours bike tour is an easy-going and fun way to visit all the important sights of Helsinki and learn more about the city. The tour takes you to e.g. Finlandia Hall, Töölö bay, and Rock Church. The Bike Tours Helsinki’s meeting place is at Narinkka Square in Kamppi.

Walk and enjoy Suomenlinna

Take a guided one-hour walking tour around the Suomenlinna Island and learn more about this UNESCO World Heritage site. Above all, you’ll see the historic Susisaari and Kustaanmiekka areas along with the Great Courtyard and the dry dock which once was one of the largest in the world.

The tour starts from the Suomenlinna Centre every Saturday and Sunday at 13:30 in May. Prices 11 € / adults, 4 € / children. Admission is free with a Helsinki Card. More info at www.suomenlinnatours.com

Venture at a tree-top park

Be adventurous and have fun at Adventure Park Korkee. The park offers more than 109 individual tasks on 13 tree-top trails that range from easy to challenging. Also, three of the courses are suitable for kids. Wooden ladders, rope bridges, lots of tunnels and walkways and, of course, zip lines! This tree-top park is located on the island of Mustikkamaa, right beside Helsinki Zoo. Korkee is easy to reach from central Helsinki by public transport.
