What could be a better way to experience summery Helsinki than to hop on a bike. Cycle along the seafront routes and pedal through beautiful neigbourhoods.

This summer cycling in the city is easier than ever now that 500 city bikes appear in the streets of Helsinki. You’ll find city bikes in 50 locations around the city. Anyone can borrow a bike for a reasonable fee. Recommended riding time is 30 minutes, but if you’re willing to pay a little bit extra, you can borrow it for a longer time, maximum five hours.

As a tourist, the easiest way to use bikes is:

1. Go to and check the nearest bike station. Alternatively look for yellow bike stations at Kaivopuisto, Unioninkatu, Rautatientori, Kiasma or Hakaniemi. These stations accept credit cards.

2. Pay for 1 day’s use or 1 week’s use. You can also pay for bikes for your entourage (max. 4 persons).

3. To use a bike you need to be over 15 yrs or accompanied by your parents.

->All the details of using city bikes can be found at from 2.5. onwards
