Let It Flow
Food, sustainability, music and amazing location. That, and so much more is Flow Festival.
Food plays a big role at Flow Festival. Approximately 40 different restaurants, cafes and bars serve the festival goers in the area. Restaurants are high profile and carefully chosen to satisfy many apetites. Their menus also include organic, local and vegan alternatives. Art is also strongly present at Flow Festival. In collaboration with the University of the Arts, festival presents various installations and art pieces around the festival area.
Sustainability has been big part of Flow from the start, and it’s actually the world’s first carbon neutral festival. All the festival’s energy is generated with renewable fuels and 100% of waste is reused. Flow Festival encourages food vendors to serve ecological dishes, and during the festival weekends a jury chooses the winner of the best Sustainable Meal contest.
But what about the music? Well, music is a huge selection of new and established artists. Genres vary from indie rock to jazz, from underground hip-hop to electronic music. Every year the festival brings big international names to the stage. This year’s unquestioned stars are Massive Attack, Iggy Pop, Morissey and Sia.
The location deserves a word too. Flow Festival is held in a disused power station. The power plant structures are an amazing sight when illuminated as the August evening turns into a darkening night.
