Marski by Scandic – The hotel in the heart of Helsinki
Marski hotel is the first signature hotel in Finland by Scandic Hotels. It has a splendid location in the centre of Helsinki and it’s full of urban buzz.
Marski is located in the corner of the two main streets of Helsinki, Mannerheimintie and Northern Esplanade. It is in the heart of the city, just next to Stockmann Department Store, near to Forum Shopping Centre and Esplanade Park, so you’ll easily get to the main door of the hotel by various means of transportation. Trams are really convenient and, for example, trams no 2 and 3 from the Railway Station go straight to the hotel. All the shops, cafes, bars and restaurants of the city are nearby or within an easy reach. In addition, it’s very easy to visit all the main attractions from the hotel. For example, take the tram no 3 and head to the Linnanmäki Amusement Park or take a 10-minute walk via Esplanade to the Market Square and Suomenlinna Sea Fortress ferry pier.
All Marski’s rooms have a unique, beautiful and timeless décor. Some of the rooms are spacious, and some are only for sleeping, but all of them have double-thick mattresses, soft pillows and high-quality bathroom products. You can choose from different types of rooms, starting from a classic single to the Marski suite. Check also the co-living rooms consisting of three hotel rooms combined together or separated by connecting doors.
Fascinating atmosphere of Marski
The atmosphere of Marski is hard to explain. It’s international but Finnish. It’s stylish but cosy. The whole house is full of Finnish design, and the interior design is luxurious, detailed and interesting. The hotel wants to present the concept of Finnfulness which is visible in various elements of Finnish culture: the photographs of everyday Helsinki in the rooms, in the wallpaper of the elevators, and Finnish design items. Also, people make the atmosphere here. The staff is friendly and smiling, and the lobby bar is full of people, some of them hotel quests, some just passing by. Simply put, it feels good to be at Marski!
Restaurant Kuusi Palaa – Food to your mouth and brain
Marski has a spacious restaurant full of natural light on the first floor. With a nice view of Mannerheimintie, it has different kinds of cosy tables and booths. The restaurant is called Kuusi palaa, and it refers to their menu, which includes shareable small dishes (pala), a little bit like tapas. The name is also a pun as the Finnish phrase kuusi palaa has nine different meanings. Beside the shareable dishes, the menu includes Finnish flavours with a twist, which basically means using Finnish ingredients in surprising ways. The restaurant also serves lunch on weekdays.
Drinks for everyone!
Marski’s Bar has been one the city’s meeting points for decades, and now after its renovation it is the place to be – again. The speciality of the bar is the drink menu, created by the bar staff and stemming from the Finnish nature. The drink menu is manifesting Finnish flavours, and local ingredients give an exciting twist to the drinks.
Next to the lobby is the café called Café 7:01 which offers a quick takeaway for commuters, sightseeing snacks for tourists, relaxed breakfast for those who take it easy or simply the perfect coffee on a date. You may wonder the name of the café; according to the story, the former president Marshal Mannerheim (who the hotel has been named after) always enjoyed his morning coffee at exactly 7:01. So, if you want to live like the Marshal himself, set your watch to 7:01!
