The Ring Rail Line is open!

One of the most significant public transport projects in the Helsinki region was completed today when Ring Rail Line opened for passengers this morning.

The first train left from the Helsinki Railway Station at 3:59. The official opening celebration started at 7:00 at Central Railway Station, Eliel Square and at some of the stations. The opening day events will take place till 18:00.

The new line provides a rail link between Helsinki city center and Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. The travel time between Airport and Helsinki city center is about 30 minutes. Ticket costs 5 euros and it’s valid for an hour. With Helsinki Card Region you’ll have free travel in the whole Helsinki metropolitan area, including travel to Helsinki-Vantaa Airport and back. Get your Helsinki Card Region in advance or during your stay you can buy it from many sales point in the Helsinki.

Trains I and P operate on the Ring Rail Line. Train I runs from Helsinki via Tikkurila station to Helsinki Airport, from where it continues back to Helsinki. Train P runs the route in the opposite direction. For a detailed schedule see here.
