Russian restaurant Saslik
Russian restaurant Saslik has cherished the food tradition and atmosphere of the Czarist era since the 1970’s. Located in a perfect spot near the seaside and Kaivopuisto Park, the restaurant has served presidents and heads of states as well as common men (and women). Saslik is one of the most famous places to have dinner in Helsinki and it is loved by people from around the world.
The restaurant is famous for their bear dishes and traditional Russian cuisine. The menu has many great options to choose from, depending on how hungry you are. If you want to taste many different aspects of Russian dishes, you should try a Zakuska assortment as an appetizer. But the mushroom Julienne is mouth-watering and it’s back on the menu at customers’ request. For a main dish, why not try the Ivan’s sword: it’s a real sword as a skewer with different sorts of meat plus all the side dishes. We recommend having the delicious (and huge!) Baked Alaska ice cream dish for dessert.
Experience the unique milieu
Restaurant Saslik is also known for a uniquely decorated milieu. Consisting of many dining rooms and cabinets with different themes and stories behind them, the place is something you really have to see with your own eyes. Even before stepping inside the restaurant, the colourful and lighted stained-glass windows give you a hint of what to expect.
Brilliant service and generous dishes are accompanied by Russian troubadours, who perform live every Wed-Sat evening. So, it’s fair to say that dinner in Saslik is an experience for all senses!
